FAQ
-
Do you accept commissions for features?
I do take commissions for features. I have a particular interest in the arts and culture, as well as style, design, food, and travel.
I am also interested in doing more work in the cannabis and wellness space.
For cannabis, I would love to explore more writing and brand development projects.
And in wellness, I am particularly interested in the topic of sexual wellness and intimacy.
I do not do features without a significant amount of lead time, and I prefer to work with editors who are meticulous and detail-oriented.
-
Do you still do artist interviews?
Yes. I would like to get back to interviewing artists and creatives.
I require a significant amount of time to prepare and write. I also need for there to be a clearly communicated angle or theme surrounding the interview or feature piece.
I am willing to be part of the conversation where identifying what that may be is concerned. If you are interested in working with me in this capacity, I would consider this separate from the interview and writing process, and would expect to be compensated for my time.
I also prefer an ample amount of time for the actual interview. I value insightful and thorough conversation, and it takes time for people to get comfortable enough to open up.
-
What other capacities do you work in?
I call myself a writer because it is often foundational to my work, but it is not a title through which I define myself or my creative practice.
I also very much enjoy the process of development and content ideation.
Additionally, I am usually pretty excited to learn new skill sets as the need arises.
-
Would you travel for work?
Yes, I would.
I do not accept travel in exchange for free promotion or pitching favorable media coverage.
I will, however, travel as part of compensated work, or for an ongoing project or assignment that may require it.
If you are interested in working with me in the capacity of a consultant, writer or content creator, I am open to collaborating on developing deliverables tied directly to the event or brand.
I do expect to be compensated for my time and participation in any creative ideation.
-
What are your rates?
I do not have fixed rates because I consider payment on a per-project basis.
It is important to me to have thorough conversations with clients in order to understand their goals and to get a realistic idea of the scope of a project.
That allows for there to be a more honest assessment of the amount of time, effort, and labor required of me.
-
Do you do content creation?
I would not call myself a content creator, but it is a capacity that I am experimenting with in my personal life.
Content creation is something that I would be interested in pursuing on a more professional level were the right project to align.
-
Do you work on projects anonymously or in an uncredited capacity?
I am always willing to exercise discretion, so yes, I would work in anonymity if that is in the best interest of the project.
For the purposes of having a sustainable career, I would expect to be credited for my contributions, acknowledged for my efforts, and compensated fairly when the project reaches completion.
It should be noted that I will not exercise discretion as part of any expectation to ignore, disregard, or not speak my mind about anything that is not aligned or honest to the project scope.
I hope that if you choose to work with me this is a quality that you find valuable.
-
Do you "ghost write" or do work on behalf of another person?
No, I do not.
While I am happy to be a collaborator on a project that may have many moving parts and require extra support or discretion, I think it is important not to erase people’s honest contributions.
I would not be comfortable working in any capacity in which I would not be able to express that I had contributed in some way.
